Lily Rabe’s SXSW Winner ‘Miss Stevens’ Sells to The Orchard


The Orchard has acquired all North American rights to Julia Hart’s directorial debut “Miss Stevens,” starring Lily Rabe in the title role.
Rabe (“American Horror Story”) won the SXSW Best Actress Special Jury Prize for this role as a teacher who’s stuck at a crossroads in her personal life as she chaperones three of her students on a weekend trip to a drama competition.
Hart directed “Miss Stevens” from a script she wrote with Jordan Horowitz. TimotheĆ© Chalamet (“Interstellar”), Lili Reinhart (“The Kings of Summer”), YouTube phenomenon Anthony Quintal, Oscar NuƱez, Rob Huebel and Tamir Yardenne also star.

Altadena film company launches anti-bullying effort

Tamirfilms, an Altadena-based independent film company is turning its short film "Silencio," which addresses bullying into a nationwide effort to educate teens about the subject, according to Tamir Yardenne, filmmaker and the film company's chief executive officer.

Silencio will turn from a film into national program to teach teens about film making and bullying, which will launch in Pasadena on Nov. 28, Yardenne said.
The program seeks to immerse young Latinos in an intense 8-week course in film production.
Students will get to produce their version of Silencio.
The course will connect local youth with experienced professionals in the entertainment industry and provide young filmmakers with an opportunity receive practical, hands-on experience.
Interns will be a vital part of the project and assist in the film's production. The curriculum will include marketing as it pertains to social media, pre-production, on-set production, and post-production.

Tamirfilms Internship


In Nov 2011, Tamirfilms is offering an opportunity for a free 8 week internship. The Program will target individuals in California with a focus on kids from the East Los Angeles area who are interested in learning about the film making process.


Silencio an independent film, will be shot entirely on location in East Los Angeles and Altadena, A large portion of the film’s cast will be comprised of local talent. Silencio’s grassroots approach will be to take young Latinos from East Los Angeles and immerse them into an intense 8 week course in film production. This unique course will integrate the local youth with veterans in the entertainment industry and offer an opportunity for young filmmakers to get practical hands-on experience.

Interns will be a vital part of the project and assist in the film’s production. The curriculum will include marketing as it pertains to social media, pre-production, on-set production, and post-production.

Applicants must be between the ages of 16 - 21
